Peter H. Russell

RUSSELL, Peter H. - Age 92, of Linden, passed away July 15, 2024. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, July 19, 2024 at Mundy Presbyterian Church, 3506 W. Grand Blanc Rd., Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to Heart to Heart Hospice or Mundy Presbyterian Church. Peter was born June 12, 1932 in Bradford, PA, the son of Theodore Roosevelt and Ruth (Lowe) Russell. He married Verna Marie Jones on October 26, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. Peter was a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1951-1955, then served for many years as a Chaplain in the Navy Reserves. He earned a Masters in Theology through McCormick Seminary in Chicago. Pastor Russell served at Mundy Presbyterian Church for over 20 years, Houghton Lake Kirk of the Lakes Presbyterian Church, then as an affiliate pastor at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. He also had been a volunteer firefighter for Mundy Township and served as a police Chaplain. He is survived by his wife, Verna; daughters, Robin (Doug) Russell-O'Connell, Ronda (Giuseppe Finateri) Russell, Ruth (Michael) Story and Renee (Dan) Wcisel; grandchildren, Aaron (Abbey) Higgins, Thaddaeus (Sara) Higgins, Christy (Spencer) Ball, Joshua (Michelle) Story, Jacob (Kelly) Story, Chad Russell, Leah Russell, Jenna (Andrew) Oslan, Logan (Corinne) Tigner, Paige (Jordon) Pierce, Amber Wcisel; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Scott (Jan) Russell.
