ROMANO, Peter - Of Swartz Creek, age 90, died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be 10AM Saturday, June 13, 2009 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Fr. Robert McKeon, celebrant. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-9PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a Vigil Service will be held at 7PM and on Saturday from 9-10AM at the church. Mr. Romano was born May 16, 1919 in Palermo, Italy, the son of Anthony and Catherine (Porto) Romano and had been a resident of Swartz Creek since 1998. He married Norma Perri in Detroit on March 4, 1943 and she preceded him in death on May 11, 1999. Peter was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. He was self employed as a barber and was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and the K of C. Surviving are: son, James and wife Diane Romano of Fenton; 3 grandchildren, Anna and husband Joshua Rosenthal of Flint, Michael Romano of Flint, Alyssa Romano of Mt. Pleasant; 1 great-granddaughter, Abigail; sister-in-law, Mary Romano of Sterling Heights. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Albert and Frank Romano.
