CHANTACA, Peter Paul - passed away on October 7, 2021 at the age of 88. Pete was born on June 29, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to Juan and Antonia (Camarillo) Chantaca. The family later moved to Saginaw, Michigan. While attending college he met his future wife, Helena. He asked, and she agreed to wait for him, so Pete proudly enlisted to serve his country in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed overseas. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Michigan where he married Helena Szatukiewicz on September 13, 1958. They settled in Flint, Michigan and raised 3 girls. Pete worked and retired from General Motors and was an active member of the UAW. He was equally as active in his church community, devoted to his Catholic faith, and a longtime parishioner of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Pete was a deeply caring man, a strong foundation for his family, and always there to help anyone in need. He will truly be missed, and the memories of times spent with him will be cherished by his family and friends. Pete is survived by his wife, Helena; three daughters (and spouses), Elena Chantaca (Jeff Bassett), Annette Chantaca (Jason Fitch) and Nancy Chantaca (Randy Brownell); six granddaughters; Amanda & Kristine Bassett, Darah (Conner Krause), Erin & Samantha Fitch, and Jordan Chantaca.
