Peggy Ellene Waltrip

Peggy Ellene Waltrip, age 84, of Swartz Creek, passed from this life to her heavenly home where she was welcomed with hugs and open arms on Thursday, January 30, 2025. A funeral service will take place 2:00 PM, Monday, February 3, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Ed Emmerling will preside with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM until the time of service Monday. Those desiring may direct memorial contribution to Westside Church, 5090 W. Pasadena, Flushing, MI 48433.  

Peggy was born on November 23, 1940 in Clarkton, Missouri the daughter of the late James and Alverta (Summers) Sale. She graduated from Clarkton High School, class of 1958. Peggy and Jack Waltrip were united in marriage on August 10, 1957. Shortly after, they moved to Michigan where Peggy continued her education at Mott Community College in Flint earning her degree as a registered nurse. She worked for the former St. Joseph Hospital/ Genesys Hospital for 30 plus years before her retirement. Peggy was a faithful member since 1960 of the Westside Baptist Church in Flushing. She directed choir, played the piano, taught Sunday School and along with many other roles at the church. Peggy and her husband were members of an old car club in Flint, they enjoyed building street rods together and traveling for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed staying active, spending time with her family and friends, decorating the church for special occasions, and going shopping.  

She is survived by her son, Mark Waltrip; daughter, Toni (Chris) Nickel; granddaughters, Brittany (Steve) LaRouche and Emily Waltrip; and grand-dogs, Dax, Flynn and Gus. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack; and seven siblings, Betty, Margaret, Bill, Bud, David, Wilma and Martha.  

We will always be grateful for the life you have given us and for always being our greatest fan and cheerleader.
