Peggy Jean Gent

GENT, Peggy Jean - Age 70, of Fenton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2006. Funeral service will be held 11AM Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel 1000 Silver Lake Rd.,Fenton with Rev. Grant Wessel officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held 5-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Peggy was born the daughter of the late Aaron and Sylvia (Addington) Collins in Russell County, VA on October 14, 1936. She married Paul Dennis Gent on March 9, 1955 and he preceded her in death March 11, 1980. She had made Fenton her home for the past 48 years and was employed by Hanson Cleaners in Fenton for 36 years. Peggy was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed crafts, cooking and gardening. She also took great pride in decorating her home and her many flower gardens. She was of the Baptist Faith. Peggy loved to be surrounded by her family and loved ones and with her strong family values personified motherhood. Surviving are son, Paul Donald Gent and wife Linda of Fenton; daughter, Alice Darlene Wise and husband James of Lebanon, VA; grandson, Aaron Edwin Paul Smith of Fenton; 3 granddaughters, Nicole Jean Gent of Holly, Katie Renee Wise of Lebanon, VA and Kelsey Beth Wise of Lebanon, VA; brother, Billy Ray Collins of Lebanon, VA; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years; 3 brothers, Emory Lee Collins, Aaron Woodrow Collins and Emmett Collins; 3 sisters, Lucille Collins, Lucille Cox and Lois Wheatley.
