SHAKER, Paul T. - Age 71 of Flushing passed away suddenly Sunday, August 22, 2004, doing something he loved, golfing.  Paul was born in Flint, May 21, 1933 the son of Thomas and Mary (Estfan) Shaker.  He resided in the Flint/Flushing area his entire lifetime.  Paul attended and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1952 and in his senior year was selected as an all state halfback.  Paul then attended Michigan State University where he was a member of the 1953 Rose Bowl team.  Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a longtime member of Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, The Flint Elks Lodge #222, The AmSerLeb Club, The former Bruin Club, The Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame, and many other organizations over the years.  Paul was currently employed by C & L Ward Bros. in Davison.  Prior to that he was a salesperson at Vinyl Sash, and in earlier years had sold athletic equipment to various high schools.  Paul was the ultimate gentleman, a sweet gentle and loving friend to all that knew him.  He will be sadly missed by all, especially his loving family.  Son, Dr. Richard Shaker and fiancâ?s Nancy Abraham; daughters, Lisa (Shaker) Knopp and husband Robert, Mona (Shaker) Capuano and husband Jeff.  Grandchildren to whom he was 'Papa': Gina, Leslie and Natalie Knopp; Marina, Jenna and Roman Capuano.  Sister Margaret Shaker; brothers Louie Shaker and Delore Shaker.  Also surviving is Paul's former wife Rosemary (Babian) Shaker, Brother-in-Law, Richard Babian and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and numerous 'adopted' nieces, nephews, 'brothers and sisters', 'sons and daughters'.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert and Maroun; sister, Doloris Shaker and many other close family members.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 26, 2004 at Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Rd.  Rev. Fr. William Bonczewski will officiate.  Paul's family will receive friends at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd. (Just South of Hill Rd.) from 6 to 9 P.M. tonight and Wednesday from 12 noon to 9 P.M.  Thursday, Paul will be taken to Our Lady of Lebanon Church to lie in state from 10 A.M. until the time of the Mass.  A memorial service under the auspices of the Flint Elks Lodge #222 will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, followed at 7:30 P.M. by a Service of Incense.  The family requests memorial donations in Paul's memory be made to the Elks Club 'Shakers Acres' or to Luke M.
