ROLL, Paul Joseph "Rocky" - age 83, of Fenton, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024. Services will be held 12 PM Wednesday, May 29 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Tuesday, May 28; and 11 AM until the time of service Wednesday, May 29. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of one's choice.
Rocky was born October 30, 1940 in Williamston, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Helen (Steffenhagen) Roll.
Surviving are: his wife, Linda; 3 children, Kerry Nelson, Kathryn Roth (John Harding), Stephen Roth;
8 grandchildren, Kyla (Zach) Wheeler, AJ Nelson, Tom Nelson, Andrew Harding, Megan Harding, Karys Nelson, Alexandra Roth, Evelyn Roth; great-grandson, Karson Wheeler;
10 siblings, Ruth (Max) Rawza, Jean Roll, Joan (Dale) Lucas, Rose (Ron) Tickner, Gary Roll, Dale (Diane) Roll, Judy (Buzz) Lowrie, John (Sherry) Roll, Carl (Collette) Roll, Sherry (Roman Belabradish; and many nieces and nephews.
Rocky was a generous benefactor to the community, donating to many causes including Flint’s Cultural Center, Genesys Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic. He started an insurance agency in his younger years and in 1972, opened Rocky’s Cycle Supply Inc. in Burton, which would later become Rocky’s Great Outdoors, combining his love of motorcycles and the outdoors. He also ran a brake shop and opened Thread Creek Shirt Factory Ltd. in Flint. Rocky was a pilot, motorcycled in nearly all the 50 states, collected motorcycles, was an avid gardener, and always kept very busy with a thirst for knowledge.
