LANE, Paul Erway, age 77, of Swartz Creek, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at West Flint Church of the Nazarene, G-2254 S. Dye Rd., Flint, Rev. Steven Close and Dr. David Bowser officiating. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment at Bristol Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries. Paul was born September 8, 1932 in Detroit the adopted son of the late W. Harry and Alice Mae (Erway) Lane. He married Joan L. Hole September 20, 1952 in Flint. He attended Olivet Nazarene College and was a member of West Flint Church of the Nazarene. Paul retired in 1993 after 37 years at General Motors, S.P.O. as a Service Parts Engineer. He was actively involved in his community. Paul officiated boy's football, basketball, baseball and girl's volleyball and softball for M.H.S.A.A. from 1973 to 1993. He trained Leader Dogs for the Blind and had joined the Linden Lions Club in 2009. In his leisure time, Paul enjoyed golfing and singing with the Norton Male Chorus as well as other organizations. He had a beautiful voice, starting his vocal training at the age of twelve, and performed at the dedication ceremony of the Grosse Pointe Woods Recreational Park. Surviving are his wife Joan of Swartz Creek; son, Wm. Bradlee and wife Vivian Lane of Hudsonville; daughter, Paula and husband Chris Rademacher, Illinois; 4 grandchildren, Kelli, Ashlee, Sarah and Christopher; sister, Mary Lou and husband Cliff Strobel of California; and Aunt Emilia of Illinois.
