Paul A. KLEIN

August 25, 1929 — May 5, 2011

KLEIN, Paul August - of Gaines, passed away May 5, 2011 at Genesys Hospital. Services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Home, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Dr. Jeffery Norrell will officiate. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service. Paul was born in Flint on August 25, 1929, the son of the late August and Mae (Hislop) Klein. Paul attended Saint Michael's Catholic School in Flint. He was part of several championship football and basketball teams. After graduation he entered the apprenticeship program at GMI. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war where he was stationed in England. When he returned home he went to work at Buick for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He kept busy with several organizations, Flint Mens Bowling Association, Past President, Flint Bowling Hall of Fame, Commander of Linden Post 119 American Legion, Windsor, Ont. R.C.N.A. member & H.M.C.S. Hunter member. Paul enjoyed deer hunting, his Thursday night golf league and sitting on the deck of the cottage. He leaves four children, Sharron L. Rundell and partner Brian Guthrie, Lori Smith and husband Damian, Kirk Rundell and wife Brinda, Mark Rundell and wife Lori; grandchildren, Robert and Krista Rundell, Audree Rundell, Joel Rundell, Dianna and husband Fritz, Allison Smith; great grandchildren: Ethan and Jared Rundell and Reilly; nephews, Tim Moriarity, Tony & Pam Klein; cousin, John & Winnie Hagan of Glasgow, Scotland; several nieces and nephews, his brotherhood through the Linden American Legion, George Dolan, Al Kellogg and many close friends in Windsor, Ont. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Jeanne in January 2002; brother, George Klein; sister, Kathleen. Tributes may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
