MURPHY, Patrick Andrew - age 40 of Canton, formerly of Linden, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Funeral mass will be celebrated 1:00 PM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held 3-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street, Linden with a vigil service at 7:30 PM, and 11:30-12:30 Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of one's choice. Pat was born July 16, 1972 in Flint, the seventh son of Mike and Lorraine (White) Murphy. He was a 1990 graduate of Linden Schools, where he played football, baseball and was class president. He attended MSU for one year but chose a career in flying. Patrick received a degree from Lansing Community College in 1992 and took his first solo flight on November 21, 1991. He worked for several cargo companies including Kitty Hawk, where he was a flight engineer and first officer. In 2001 he trained to fly CRJ planes for Northwest, which is now Delta. He worked for the Pinnacle Division since 2001 and has flown over 11, 000 miles. Patrick was a loyal Spartan fan and enjoyed snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula, Skiing and flying. He has been surrounded by a support team of many friends that he has known for many years with Pinnacle and other airlines. They all looked forward to the Super Bowl party he held every year. He was a fantastic cook and host. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Lorraine Murphy of Linden; 6 brothers, Timothy of Linden, Steve (Dalynn) of Fenton, Christopher of Linden, Dennis (Jacqueline) of Fenton, Michael (Jacquelyn) of Fenton, Matthew (Annette) of Linden; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
