Patrick Maccombs

April 8, 1953 — March 13, 2023

Swartz Creek

On Monday, March 13th, 2023, Patrick Maccombs, age 69, of Swartz Creek passed away.

Pat with his wife Wendy (Smith), were married 48 years, raised 3 daughters and were blessed with 8 grandchildren.

Pat could fix anything, but he could not fix this. In September of 2022, he had a stroke and after what was a good recovery, his health declined.

Pat worked at LaSalle in Fenton and retired Skilled Trades with Buick.

Throughout his years he enjoyed hunting, golf, bowling and roller skating. His biggest enjoyment was being on his tractor mowing his property and driving "Carl", his Polaris, around the property doing things that had to be done.

His real enjoyment came with his wife, Wendy, they traveled and spent time with friends and family and hosted many events at their home. With his daughters, Amanda, he shared scratch tickets and Murder Mystery games, Jennifer, he shared the love of the Red Wings and politics, and with Carrie, he enjoyed Styx concerts and coffee from McDonald's. The fun with his grandkids included fishing, paint ball, skateboarding, music (Taylor Swift), video games (Minecraft), accessorizing outfits, surprises, dinosaurs, special projects, passing out a dollar every time he was "thirsty" and life advice.

Pat was loved very much by his wife, Wendy, daughters, Amanda (Jim) Groen, Jennifer (Shawn) Hutchins and Carrie (Ken) Ashby. His 8 grandchildren, who could talk grandpa/papa into anything, Thomas Groen (fiancée Gabi) Ava Groen, Allison Cohoon, Kaleb Cohoon, Katie Takemoto, Elizabeth Lodovisi, Julianna and Jack Ashby; his sisters, Kelly Engle and Bonnie (David) Tate; special sisters-in-law, Nina (Jeff) Lozier, Becky Keith and brother-in-law, David. He is further survived by many dear nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Marion Maccombs; his brother, Mickey Maccombs; sisters, Kathy Carr and Renee Maccombs; brother-in-law, Don Engle and sister-in-law, Susan Smith.

At Pat's request a "Fun Day Together" will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2023, at 2PM as his home.

If you were lucky enough to know Pat, you were lucky enough.

A special thank you to Amanda Smith from Heart to Heart Hospice, who helped him with his journey.

As Pat always said, "I did it my way", and he did.
