Patrick James Groves

Groves, Patrick James- Age 71, of Merrill, formerly of Flint, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025. Cremation arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. A Committal Service with Military Honors will take place 11:30 AM Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Memorial Contributions in Patrick's memory would be appreciated to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Patrick was born February 11, 1953 in Goodrich, the son of James William and Joan (Mitchell) Groves. He married Patricia Schulte in Midland on May 23, 1986. Patrick was a graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years and spent time on the USS Truxtun. and also received Nuclear Plant Operation training while serving in the Navy. He was a partner with two of his colleagues who started the computer company, Net Star Corp. Patrick loved working with computers, studying genealogy, reading, cooking, and bird watching. He loved his pet dogs and cats and often took care of and fed stray cats over the years.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Patricia Schulte-Groves of Merrill; his siblings, Carol Richards, Jan (Steve) Hunt, and Jim (Karen) Groves; nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Tanya, Bernard, Joshua, Jacob, and Audrey.
