BURGESS, Patrick Joseph  Age 81, of Fenton, formerly of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at I.H.S. Riverbend, Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 12, 2003 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will be held at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery where veterans honors will be held under the auspices of the Marine Corps. League, Flint Detachment. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Mott Childrens Hospital or Make A Wish Foundation. Mr. Burgess was born August 2, 1922 in Owosso, MI, the son of Ralph and Rose (Roach) Burgess and had lived in Swartz Creek and Fenton most of his life. He married Ruth Parker in Swartz Creek and she preceded him in death in 1987. He was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School and was a veteran of WWII serving as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from GM (Fisher Body #1) in 1977. He was a past member of the Fenton Coin Collector Group and a past member of the Swartz Creek American Legion. Mr. Burgess is survived by: two daughters, Barbara and husband, Joe Harris of Fenton, Nancy and husband, Tom Orrison of Flushing; four grandchildren, Suzette and husband, Tom Barley of Flint, Julie and husband, Darrel Auten of Burton, Joe Harris and wife, Kim, Mark Harris, all of Mississippi; five great-grandchildren, Erin and husband, Rick Strauss, Katie and Cody Auten, Timmy and Kristin Barley; two great-great-grandchildren, Alaina and Evan Strauss; brothers and sisters, Marge Washam of Jackson, Mary Pavlica of Swartz Creek, Maureen and husband, David McLean of Swartz Creek, Ralph and wife, Helen Burgess of Flint, Bill Burgess of Flint, Mick and wife, Bobbie Burgess of Jackson; many nieces and nephews.
