LUCE, Patricia Ann - age 67, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center after a long courageous battle from Ovarian Cancer, first diagnosed in January, 2007. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek. Fr. Steven Mattson celebrating. Entombment in the Mausoleum at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, Saturday from 3-8 PM, Sunday from 2-8 PM and at church Monday from 10 AM until time of Mass. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 6:00 PM, followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Genesys/Hurley Cancer Institute. Pat was born to Walter and Irene Plunkey on February 22, 1944 in Flint, Michigan. She married William (Bill) Luce on September 12, 1964 at Sacred Heart Church. Pat was a devoted daughter and daughter-in-law, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1962 and worked as a caterer for Masonic Temple, Cromers and various other businesses for many years. Pat also worked as a bus driver for Powers Catholic High School, was a waitress for Italia Gardens and was a receptionist for Dr. Charles Thompson, Dr. Sharman and Dr. Tharippeal for many years. She was also an active member of St. Mary's Queen of Angels Parish in Swartz Creek and the Knights of Columbus Singing Knights Ladies Auxillary. Pat was an avid runner and ran many Crim, Turri, half marathons and various other races throughout the state and country. She was a member of the Riverbend Striders and was a Crim team leader for many years before and after she was diagnosed with cancer. Pat was an inspiration to many and never let her disease slow down her desire to run. Pat is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill, her three children, Greg and wife Stephanie of Helendale, CA, Tim and wife Joni of Winter Springs, FL and Laurie and husband Matt Thierry of Davisburg, MI. She has five grandchildren, Luke and Beau Luce, Jacob, Kaitlyn and Aidan Thierry. She also has three step-grandchildren, Denise Krein-Schroeder, Claus (Kris) Krein-Schroeder and Heidi (Steve) Martin. Pat is also survived by brothers and sisters, Joseph (Carole), George (Linda) and Paul Plunkey, Joan (Don) Dumler and Janet (Jeff) Hamblin, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Evelyn Luce Thomas, brother-in-law Danny Luce, nephew Scott Plunkey, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
