HOHOLIK, Patricia A., -- Age 73, of Durand, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 in Flint, Mich., after a long illness. She was born May 31, 1937 in Flint to David and Rachel (Haley) Snyder. Patricia graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Flint and attended community colleges in Flint and Lansing. She married James Hoholik on May 26, 1962 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Flint. Patricia had several jobs during her life including at A/C Spark Plug Division of GM, owning and operating a bar in Bancroft and beer and wine store in Flint with her husband. She also worked for the Michigan National Guard and retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2000. Her most important job that she loved was raising her children to be strong, independent, loving adults. She was a kind soul who always had a bright smile. Patricia was proud of her Irish heritage and her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved them and the Catholic church very much. Patricia was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church in Swartz Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bernadine Callahan; her brother, Joseph Snyder; and her nephew and godson, Joseph Hilary Snyder. Patricia is survived by her husband, James of Durand; children, Steve (Elaine) of Owosso, Timothy (Pam) of Swartz Creek, Christine McNeal (Roger) of San Antonio, Texas, Suzanne of Columbus, Ohio, and Amy Hoholik-Bandy of Swartz Creek; sisters, Margaret Wolter of Haslett and Mary Scott of Monroe; brother, Hilary (Barbara) Snyder of Flushing; grandchildren, Aaron and Tyler Bandy, and Lauren, Rachael and Sean McNeal; many cousins, nephews and nieces, especially Angela and Joe Yankee, and Teresa Potvin; and her dog, Gypsy. Her family would like to thank all of our relatives, friends and health care workers across Michigan and Ohio who went above and beyond in so many ways to help care for Patricia these last 16 months. This includes the Cleveland Clinic, Regency Manor Rehab & Subacute Center, Swartz Ambulance, RRC Dialysis Center in Mt. Morris, Barb Connon of HealthPlus, Dr. Sundar Ramanathan, Dane Deisler, Jim Pirochta, Marshael Nations and Jim Davis. Visitation will be 5-9 PM Wednesday, 1-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. A rosary will be said at 7 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. A Catholic Mass celebrating her life will be 11 AM Friday, January 14 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church in Swartz Creek.
