HENKE, Pastor Wilbur Ernest - Age 95, of Linden, passed away February 11, 2016. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, February 15, 2015 at North Baptist Church, 4004 Lennon Rd., Flint. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Saturday and 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to American Cancer Society for research or Reverence Hospice. Wilbur was born December 4, 1920 in Michigan City, IN, the son of Harvey and Pearl (Peo) Henke. He was a graduate of Issac C. Elston High School. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps training at Camp Crowder, MO. He was married to June Elizabeth Ness on July 4, 1943. He was a graduate of Piedmont Bible College and Bob Jones University and was in administration and teaching. He pastored Bethel Baptist Church, Walnut Cove, NC, Cedar Forest Baptist Church, Oldtown, NC, First Baptist Church, Fenton and North Baptist Church, Flint, as well as several interim pastorates. In his later years he had Bible class at a popular coffee shop. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, June; daughter-in-law, Linda; grandson, Wendel "Carl" (Salina) Henke Jr. and their children, Brittney and Brandon; granddaughter, Gretchen (Richard) Knowlton and their children, Aurora and Wesley; brother-in-law, Cleo Aldrich; nephews, Gary and Geoffrey Aldrich; nieces, Gwendolyn DeBord and their extended families and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; daughter-in-law, Donice; son, Wendel; sisters, Mildred Johnson and Nelladele Aldrich.
