POWELSON, P. Joan - Age 84, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at Caretel Inns of Linden. Funeral mass will be celebrated 2 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek with Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Visitation will be held 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with a procession following to church for 2 PM Mass. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Joan was born July 24, 1932 in Flint, the daughter of Harold Leon and Mary Catherine (Richard) Whitesel. She married Donald Powelson on May 24, 1952 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint. Joan spent many summers in Cheboygan. She was an avid golfer and got a hole in one on the 9th hole of Cheboygan Country Club where they were members. She also spent many winters in Vero Beach, FL. Joan was a member of the same Bridge club with the same friends for over 64 years. She also enjoyed vacations and taking cruises. Surviving are: husband, Donald; two children, Richard and wife, Christine (Nowiki) Powelson of Swartz Creek, Lynn and husband, Nicholas Sieradzki of Fenton; four grandchildren, Nina Powelson, Clay Newell, Nicholas (Tracey) Powleson, Ross Newell and fiancee, Christy McIlroy; several nieces and nephews; her beloved grand-dogs, Hannah, Coco, and Zoey.
