Otis Whaling

Whaling, Otis W. - Age 85, of  Fenton, formerly of Romulus,  passed away March 12, 2021. Funeral services will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held  4PM-8PM Friday, March 19, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Home, Fenton Chapel 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Those desiring may make contributions to Humane Society of Genesee County . Otis was born March 20, 1935 in Richwood, West Virginia, the son of Clyde and Eula (Godfrey) Whaling.

Otis was a graduate of Cass Tech High School in Detroit where he served as Class President and played on the basketball team. Otis proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Draftsmen from Bendix Corporation. He took great pride in his yard and loved gardening. He enjoyed ceramics. He was a family man and loved his family deeply. He loved his pet dog, Nikki.

Otis is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Mary Dubay-Whaling; his children, Donna (Kurt) Stapish, Scott (Gloria) Whaling, Carole Morrow, Cindy Stokes, and Bob (Mary) Whaling; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lea Brown, Jack Whaling, and Pat Bridgeman.
