Oscar Thomas KENNEDY

KENNEDY, Oscar Thomas "Tommy" -- Age 80, of Lennon, died April 5, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 6 PM Thursday, April 7 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will be 10:30 AM Friday, April 8 Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 5-6 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek Church of Christ or Alzheimers Association. Tommy was born January 11, 1931 in Brownfield, Texas the son of Ben Franklin Kennedy and Ella Mae (Arnold) Kennedy. He married Zada Leona Benton on November 19, 1955 in Owosso. He had resided in the Flint and Lennon area since 1955. He worked as a Millwright at General Motors V8 engine plant, retiring in 1992. Tommy was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the UAW Local 659 and the Swartz Creek Church of Christ. Surviving are wife, Zada; children, Tony (Vicki) Kennedy of Tennessee, Marc (Donna) Kennedy of Tennessee, Cora (Mark) Kebbekus of Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Niki Smith, Mandie Kennedy, Shannon Watson, Thomas Kennedy, Carly Kennedy, Casey Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Jamaycia Kennedy and Aidan Kennedy; sister Sara McDougal; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ben Kennedy; and sisters, Billie Sandage, Mary Payden and Nell Keith. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
