SHERMAN, Orville Lee - Age 86, of Linden, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel Chapel, with Rev. Donald Neuville officiating. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00-9 PM, where a Masonic Memorial service will be held at 7 PM. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Mr. Sherman was born March 16, 1923 in Detroit, the son of Lee and Neta (Boyer) Sherman and had grew up in Saginaw. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army and had fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He married Mariam Benson February 24, 1962 in Durand. Mr. Sherman owned and operated Sherm's TV in Linden for 20 years, retiring in 1979. He was a life member of the Linden V.F.W. Curtis-Wolverton Post #4642, Linden Masonic Lodge #132 F.&A.M. where he was Worshipful Master in 1977 and was in the Shrine Motor Corp for 18 years. He also was member of the Linden Order of Eastern Star Chapter #175. Surviving are: wife, Mariam; son, Larry (Suzanne) Sherman of Grand Blanc; step-daughter, Diane Paine of Lynn Haven, FL; step-son, Ted Benson of Eupora, MS; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Sherman; mother, Neta Deplonty; step-father, Joe Deplonty; sister, Betty Fehrman; 2 step-sisters, Ellie Blake and Del Webber; step-brother, Tom Deplonty.
