CROTHERS, Orville B. - age 93, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, January 11, 2010 at Durand Senior Care and Rehab. Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Dr. JD Landis officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10 AM - 9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a Masonic Memorial will be held at 7 PM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Swartz Creek United Methodist Mortgage Fund. Mr. Crothers was born April 7, 1917 in Pellston, MI, the son of William and Nellie (Butcher) Crothers. He married Helen Gimlen and she preceded him in death. Mr. Crothers was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He retired from General Motors in 1974 after 38 years of service. Mr. Crothers was a Past Master and Life Member of Charles A. Durand Lodge F & AM # 533, a life member of the Consistory in Chattanooga, TN, Knight Commander of Court of Honor in Chattanooga TN, Member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and Swartz Creek Senior Center. Surviving are: daughter, Jean and husband, Jim Florence of Swartz Creek; two grandchildren, Todd Florence and wife Brenda and Thad Florence; three great-grandchildren, Kayler Florence, Jennifer Nelson and Brian Presser; two great great-grandchildren, Madison and Zachary Nelson; sister, Alice Segar. He was also preceded in death by: his great-grandson, Eli Florence, two brothers, Harold and Clark and sister, Esther.
