Ormel Perkins

PERKINS, Ormel V. "Zip" - Age 92, of Lennon, died Sunday, May 10, 2015. Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will follow at Byron Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-5 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation. Mr. Perkins was born March 8, 1923 in Cohoctah, the son of Fred and Pearl (Sanford) Perkins. He married Frances Lucille Tower on June 7, 1941 and she preceded him in death on June 20, 1998. Mr. Perkins was a farmer for many years and retired from GM Buick after 30 years of service in 1974. He was also a member of U.A.W. Local 599. He enjoyed traveling and volunteering at Owosso Memorial Health Care. Surviving are: three children, Jane Gillespie of Swartz Creek, Teddy (Jean) Perkins of Coleman, MI, Rock Perkins of Haslett; daughter-in-law, Martha Cruse of Owosso; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
