ASTBURY, Opal Susan "Sue" - Age 67, of Swartz Creek, passed away January 15, 2022. A memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 5 at 2pm, at Riverdale Baptist Church 5151 Calkins Rd., Flint. Pastor Cory Snyder officiating. Cremation arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Memorial Contributions in Sue's memory would be appreciated to the Riverdale Baptist Church (missions).
Sue was born August 30, 1954 in Flint, the daughter of James Jackson and Doris C. (Bebber) Freeman. She married Charles L. "Chuck" Astbury in Burton on August 24, 1974. Sue graduated from Ainsworth High School and later from Mott C.C. with a Nursing Degree. She served as an ICU Nurse at Genesys Hospital for 22 years. She was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church. She loved Jesus and served at her church faithfully. Sue was especially passionate about missionaries overseas. Sue enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, making handicrafts and especially spending time with her family. She always remembered family members on their birthdays and for special occasions with cards and gifts! She was a great gift giver and exceedingly generous! Not only materialistically but also generous with her patience, kindness and willingness to help those in need.
Sue is survived by: her husband, Chuck; sons, Scott (Ingrid) Astbury, and Kurt (Katie) Astbury; her pride and joy, grandchildren, Annabelle, and Luke; sisters, Doris Decker, Sandy(Billy) Peoples, and Janice Poli, stepbrother, Dean Coble; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
