HOVIS, Jr., Norman E. – Age 64, of Linden, died February 11, 2022. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton (A live stream of the service will be available on Norman's obituary page at www.shapfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Chris Vitarelli officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 16, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Norm was born May 11, 1957 in Pontiac, MI, the son of the late Norman Sr. and Arlene Hovis. He was married to Gayle Chapman on May 26, 1979. Norm worked as an Engineer at General Motors for 36 years, most recently at the Flint Engine Operations Plant. He loved woodworking, camping with his family, and volunteering for Global Media Outreach.
Surviving are: wife, Gayle Hovis; 3 children, Amy Hovis of Marquette, MI, David (Tara) Hovis of Bancroft, MI, and Brad (Jamie) Hovis of Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren, Kristina, Amelia, Vivian, & Lydia; mother, Arlene Hovis; sister, Pam (Jon) LaFavor of North Branch, MI, brother, Jeff (Karen) Hovis of Almont, MI, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his father Norman Hovis Sr., sister Sherry (Matt) Schmitz, maternal grandparents Retha Smith & Herb (Wilma) Smith, and paternal grandparents George & Elva Hovis. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
