Norma Battles

BATTLES, Norma Mae - Age 90, of Grand Blanc, died Thursday, July 12, 2018. Norma was born on January 31, 1928 in Alpena, MI, the daughter of Edwin and Nellie (Strauer) Krebs. She married John Arthur Battles on September 3, 1954 and they were lifelong residents of Genesee County. Norma retired from Bendle Community Schools as a teacher and counselor where she was a positive role model for many of her students. Norma leaves three children: Cathy Ann Howe of Grand Blanc, John "Jack" (Jean) Battles of Linden, and James (Tracie Cady) Battles of Venice, FL; five grandchildren: Katrina (David) Covell of Grand Blanc, Karen (Steve) McGovern of Flint, Amanda (Michelle Crawley) Hammon of Flint, Jessica (Jeremy) Wolverton of Ann Arbor, and Jarred Battles of Linden; nine great grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Emma, Miranda, Noah, Caroline, Allison, Aidric, and Carrick; three sisters: Thelma Connelley of Alpena, Marge Spragg of Florida, and Barbara (Ted) Schultz of Grand Blanc; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Monday, July 16, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St, Linden, Pastor Mark Cox officiating. Norma will be laid to rest at the Great Lakes National Cemetery with her husband, John Arthur Battles who passed away on February 22, 2010. Visitation will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00-8:00pm and Monday from 10:00am until the time of the service.
