Noel Cumming

CUMMING, Noel Newton - age 88, of Linden, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, July 21, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St. Linden with Fr. Bosco Padamattummal officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-5 PM Saturday and 1-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice. Mr. Cumming was born February 9, 1920 in Belfast, Ireland, the son of Alfred and Margaret (Johnston) Cumming. He immigrated to Canada as a child and became a U.S. citizen after returning from World War II where he served in the Marine Corp in the South Pacific. Noel married Phyllis Tafelski on January 1, 1951. He was a self-employed engineer owning a design and build machinery business. Surviving are: wife of 57 years, Phyllis; six children, Alfred Cumming and wife, Kristi of Fenton, Alice Cumming of Troy, Josephine Cumming of Clawson, David Cumming and wife, Lori of Waterford, Margaret Cumming and husband, Ken Krasity of Beverley Hills, John Cumming and wife, Lisa of LaPlace, LA; eight grandchildren, Tristam, Wesley, Erin, Eileen, Donald, Kathryn, Ben, and Max.
