Neoma Ruth BURELSON

BURLESON, Neoma Ruth - age 90, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, November 13, 2009 at Arbor Hospice Residence in Ann Arbor. Services will be held 11AM Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends from 10AM Saturday until the time of service. Mrs. Burleson was born November 29, 1918 in Grand Blanc, the daughter of Ray and Mary (Routzon) Voltenburg. She was a 1937 graduate of Grand Blanc High School and married Kenneth Burleson on June 3, 1939. He preceded her in death in January of 1978. Mrs. Burleson retired from AC Spark Plug in 1976 as an inspector after 28 1/2 years of service. Mrs. Burleson was a life member of the American Legion Post 294 and the VFW auxiliary. She was an avid bowler for many years and very active in the American Legion. Surviving are: daughter, Beverley Ruth Shafer and husband, Arden of Ann Arbor; four grandchildren, Nicole and husband, Mike Cromwell, Carrie and husband, Trevor Loe, Kent Shafer and wife, Allison, Shawna Shafer; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Valetta Calder and Jane Storey; brother, Robert Voltenburg; many nieces and nephews also survive. She was also preceded in death by: son, Terry Ray Burleson brother, Merle Voltenburg and three sisters, Eva Threlkeld, Nellie Tilley, Doris Frasher.
