Neil Dennis SMITH

SMITH, Neil Dennis - Age 70, of Fenton, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Friday, October 30 at Sharp Funeral Home, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor E. Taveirne officiating. Burial at 1 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, and 1-4 and 5-8 PM Thursday. A V.F.W. Memorial service will be held 7 PM Thursday under the auspices of Curtis Wolverton Post 3243 of Fenton. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Neil D. Smith Memorial Fund. Neil was born July 12, 1939 in Houghton, South Dakota, the son of Earl and Mary (Hoiting) Smith. He attended Fenton High School. He married Sandra (Kelley) Beaupre in 1961 in Maine. Neil retired from the U.S. Air Force with 22 years of service. He had served two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243, where he served on the Honor Guard for many years. Surviving are: wife, Sandra; 5 children, Dennis and wife Peggy Beaupre of Illinois, Mark and wife Candy Beaupre of Illinois, Dee and husband Scott Randall of Fenton, Jeffrey Smith of Burton, Liz Smith and Laura Witmer of Fenton; 14 grandchildren; sister, Orpha Verhelle of Fenton; several nieces and nephews.
