Neil L. SHAVER, Sr.

SHAVER, Sr. Neil L., age 82, of Flint, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 at home. A gathering for friends and family will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Neil was born January 24, 1928 in Charlotte, Michigan the son of the late Clinton and Jesse (Van Orman) Shaver. He married Alta "Squirt" Rhoades on August 3, 1947 in Dimondale and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2009. Neil was employed by A&P for over 20 years, and was an agent for the Detroit Free Press, retiring in 1990. He was also a life member of the Masons. Neil enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Squirt, traveling all over Michigan and had fond memories of dancing to Big Band Music in the 1940's. He is survived by 3 sons, Neil Jr. (Trish) of Swartz Creek, Mike (Suzy) of Highland, Gale ( Toni) of Toledo, Ohio; 6 grandchildren;10 great grandchildren; brother, Duane Shaver of Nashville, MI; and many wonderful friends and neighbors He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan; sister, Gerry; 2 brothers, Melvin and Ralph. The family extends many thanks to Genesys Health Park CICU, 2 South Tele and Genesys Hospice for their compassionate care.
