Nancy Jane KNECHT

July 4, 1929 — February 10, 2014

KNECHT, Nancy Jane (Post) -died peacefully at her home in Grand Blanc, on February 10, 2014, surrounded by her family. A Memorial celebrating the life of Nancy Knecht will be held Saturday April 19th, at 5pm in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Flint; Family Greeting at 4pm. Nancy Jane (Post) Knecht, was born on the Fourth of July, 1929, in Ionia, MI, to Fred and Irene Post. She was the middle daughter of three girls, Joan (Smith, deceased, of Homosassa, FL), and Suzanne (Sukey Webb, of Flint). For much of her early life Nancy believed all the hoopla and celebration on the July 4th was intended just for her. Later in life, she just decided to hold tight to that belief and savored the annual festivities as a celebration of life! She lived life as a celebration. Nancy's life was like a firework! There was nothing quiet or unassuming about it. She could enter your life, create an explosion of hospitality, color, warmth, friendship and life, leave you saying oooh and ahhh, all while making you feel changed and better because of it. She found her love and husband Wayne, or Wonderful Wayne as she loved to call him, on the beaches of Pentwater, MI while they were attending college; she at Alma, Wayne at Central Michigan. They were married on Valentine's Day in 1953. And just last year, they renewed those same vows on the beach in Florida, for their Sixtieth Anniversary. Nancy can be remembered for many things including her teaching career, her work in public television, her fashion business with The Carlisle Collection, her community work with The Junior League, The International Institute, and countless other organizations with which she shared her talent, and passion. But in reality, what was really important to Nancy were her family, children, grandchildren, and the countless friends she nurtured (and who nurtured her) over the years. Her home was always open to you - complete of course with the Nancy hospitality, Nancy wisdom, love, optimism, and earnest encouragement that always came with it. She was Mom, Oma and friend, to many who didn't have one, or who just needed an extra. Her children, Tim Knecht (Linda) of Fenton, MI; David Knecht (Pam) of Hinsdale, IL; and Suzanne Knecht (Larry Prange) of St. Joseph, MI; Axel Bublitz (Kirsten) of Hamburg, Germany; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nicole Anderson (Peter), William, and Barrett of, Laguna Beach, CA, Colleen Sabatine (Andy) of Traverse City, MI, Patric Knecht of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Patrick and Sophia Prange, and Maria, Lotta, and Hanna Bublitz, now carry on the (Oma) Nancy legacy. Nancy's desire is for us to live life and celebrate life! Whenever you see fireworks, let the spirit of Nancy explode inside of you, and let it be a reminder to celebrate life, every day. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to The Community Foundation of Greater Flint.
