Muriel Alva Hibbard

HIBBARD, Muriel Alva - age 89, of Byron, died October 23, 2023. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday  October 26, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Burial will follow in Byron Cemetery. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring  may make contributions to Northern Lights Child Advocacy Center, 3210 US Hwy 41, Marquette, MI 49855. Muriel was born December 8, 1933 in Cadillac, the daughter of Floyd Dewey and Florence Elizabeth (Shepard) Morgan, She was a 1951 graduate of Swartz Creek High School. Muriel married Lamar C. Hibbard on October 24, 1953 and he preceded her in death on June 14, 2020. She had resided in Byron for 66 years and was a member of Byron Baptist Church and Job's Daughters. Muriel loved to paint, made beautiful quilts and was a 4H Leader in Sewing for many years. She also made wedding cakes for each of her children's weddings and made the flower girl dresses and ring bearer suits. Surviving are: 6 children, Karen (Ronald) Stanbaugh, Lynette (Mark) Smakal, Michael (Jill) Hibbard, Carolyn (Tom) Boillat, Teresa (Joe) Estrada and Dale (Cindy Young) Hibbard; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Martha (Jerry) Broadworth, Joyce Mixer, Larry (Barb) Morgan, Doug (Pam) Morgan; sister-in-law, Jane Morgan; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Louise; and brothers, Arnold and Wayne; grandson, Ryan Stanbaugh and an infant grandson.
