Evans, Frances Mary - 93, died peacefully in East Lansing, Michigan on February 24, 2015. She is survived by her children, Nancy Wonch (Thomas Sampson), of Lansing, Michigan and Gregory Wonch of LaGrange, Illinois; grandchildren, Jesse Sampson (Molly Wang), Anthony Sampson (Cassandra Rosenquist), Janene Almerico, and Anthony Sherman, several great grandchildren, brother, Frank Manzardo (Clara), many nieces and nephews and her Dancing Partner, Joseph Bonaviri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn Evans, her daughter, Kathleen Forrester, and her brothers Dominic and John Manzardo. Born in Calumet, Michigan to Anton Manzardo and Laura Pettiti, Frances graduated from Flint Northern High School. Throughout her life she succeeded at many occupations including hairdressing, factory work, business ownership, rural mail carrier and finally, in her mid-fifties, nursing. She retired from Bayfront Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida in 1986. She was smart, generous, funny, fearless, and kind and she loved all animals. She was a proud Democrat, a faithful Roman Catholic, and a feminist before anyone understood the term. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Chapel, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, MI 48430; reception to follow in the Founders' Hall. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, MI 48451 and for one hour immediately prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LEAF Manzardo Academic Achievement Fund at 2901 Wabash Rd., Lansing, MI 48910; Advent House Ministries, 743 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Lansing, MI 48915 or the animal shelter of your choice. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Loving Hands Caring Hearts and Hospice of Lansing for their compassionate care.
