DARRELL LYNNE BURTON MOILANEN age 64, of Fenton, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014, in Georgetown, Texas, of complications related to Myelodysplasia. Darrell was born February 27, 1950 in Highland Park, MI, to Daniel and Lillian Burton. She spent her childhood in Livonia, MI, and was active in swimming, cheerleading, and track prior to graduating from Franklin High School in 1968. She continued as a cheerleader while attending the University of Michigan, at which she completing a bachelor's degree of Education in 1971 and a master's degree in social work in 1992. Darrell and family moved to Fenton in 1979. From 1991 to 2010, she was a teacher and later a school social worker for Linden Community Schools. Darrell was an avid swimmer, skier, lover of books, and deeply loved her friends and family. She is survived by: her former spouse, William R. Moilanen; her three children, daughter Kristin Moilanen and husband Jan Erik Stroem of Morgantown, WV, son William B. Moilanen and wife Erica Moilanen of Austin, TX, and son Daniel B. Moilanen of Flint, MI; grandchildren Annika and Nils Stroem of Morgantown, WV; her sister, Ronnie Copland, of Austin, TX; many relatives, close colleagues and friends; and her two cats, Gandolf and Maddie. A memorial service will occur at Linden Middle School on Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 3 to 5 P.M.
