Mitchell Coats

Coats, Mitchell Richard- Age 62, of Clio, passed away on Wednesday February 10, 2021. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, February 17 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc. Visitation will be at 12PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mitchell was born September 3, 1958. He grew up and went to Swartz Creek schools and was an avid hockey and baseball player. This is where his love for Red Wing hockey and Tiger baseball was born. Mitchell also had a huge passion for Michigan football (Go Blue!) He was fun to watch games with because he knew as much about sports as anyone and had the ability to stay calm while watching. Mitchell was quiet and reserved and loved family. He loved to listen to all kinds of music from rock and roll to Lady Ga-Ga. Mitchell worked at Freedom Works for years. He will be so deeply missed. He is survived by his mother, Janet Marie Johnson; sister, Julia Marie Coats Keebler (Don); brother, Fredrick Curtis Coats (Livia); two nieces, Natalie Hart (Eric), and Ashley Dempsey; one nephew, Daniel Coats; many aunts, uncles and cousins. A very special thank you to Kathy and Kevin Panak who cared for Mitchell and loved him as part of their family for over 10 years. Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Richard Odell Coats.
