Mildred Smigiel

SMIGIEL, Mildred Catherine -- Age 90, of Flint, died October 14, 2015. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday October 19 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street Flint. Interment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-7 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd. Flint with a Scripture service taking place at 5 PM Sunday. Visitation 10-11 AM Monday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of their choice or the family. Mildred was born January 30, 1925 the daughter of Alger and Christie (MacKinnon) Nugent in Bad Axe. She attended Flint Northern High School and then graduated from Flint Northwestern High School. She married Louis Anthony Smigiel on April 14, 1945 in Virginia; he preceded her in death September 6, 1994. She worked as a housekeeper for the priests at St. Agnes, retiring from the Michigan Catholic Conference. Mildred enjoyed poetry, art, old movies, genealogy and spending time with her grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her children; James Smigiel of Swartz Creek, Joseph Smigiel of Kalamazoo, Christina (Kenneth) Schuette of Grand Blanc, Caroline Smigiel of Flint, grandchildren; Amber Smigiel of Washington D.C., Kendra Schuette of Grand Blanc, Katherine Schuette of Grand Blanc, Christina Watson of Flint, brothers-in-law; Martin "Mac" McGinnis, Ray Jones, Ed Smigiel, and sister-in-law Phyllis Jasinski; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son John Smigiel, brothers; Jim (Midge) Nugent, Jack (Ann) Nugent, sisters; Delores (Andy) Moore, Dorothy (Harry) Denglar, Jane Jones, Paula McGinnis, special niece Dottie, and nephews; Dick, Jerry, Bobbie and Mike.
