Mildred Marie Long

LONG, Mildred Marie - of Swartz Creek, age 88 was called home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2011. She was surrounded by her family as she passed in the comfort of her home. Services will be 11 AM Thursday at Bethany Baptist Church of Burton, 2350 E. Hemphill Rd., Burton with Pastor Mark Lasley officiating. Burial will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. MI, following the service. Visitation will be held 4-9 PM Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-9 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Mildred was born in Jane, VA February 14, 1923. She married William Reuel Long on December 24, 1940 and they were married over 70 years. Mildred was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a selfless God-loving wife of a Pastor, and was a positive influence in the lives of many. Her spirit lives on in the lives of those she loved and she will forever be remembered, cherished and greatly missed. She is survived by a loving and devoted husband, William Reuel S. Long (Judy) of Ann Arbor, Phillip P. Long (Teri) of Swartz Creek, Susan K. Prine (Andy) of Saginaw, and Joseph B. Long (Michelle) of Pleasant Lake; 10 grand children, Lori Miner, Tim Long, Jill Southwick, Amy McCarter, Niki Adams, Jamie Rhynard, Katie, Billy and Zach Prine, Christine Hosmer; and 15 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents Noah and Stella Owens; sisters, Thelma Beaver, Carmen Harris; brothers, Paul and Reid Owens.
