Michael L. Zarr, MD, MBA

Michael L. Zarr, MD, DFAPA, MBA of Grand Blanc, died September 2, 2023, at the age of 73. Graveside services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Temple Beth El section of Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI 48458 with Rabbi Yisroel Weingarten officiating. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Temple Beth El, 5150 Calkins Rd, Flint Twp, MI 48532.

Michael was born November 2, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY, the only son of Max and Sarah (Bykofski) Zarr. When his cousin, Herman Berg, set him up on a date with Sandra Sarner, it was “love at first hear.” On August 10, 1975, Michael married Sandra, his best friend and soulmate, and they built a life together filled with love and laughter. Twelve years later, their daughter Irene was born, and he became a father.

Dr. Zarr earned his Medical Degree from Albany Medical College, where he served his internship, residency in psychiatry, and fellowship in consultation liaison psychiatry. He earned a Master of Business Administration at the College of Business Administration, University of South Florida, Tampa. Dr. Zarr worked at Hurley Medical Center in the Psychiatry department, and he was the Psychiatric Medical Director for Health Alliance Plan and Value Options Health Care. He was active in the medical community and Michigan Psychiatric Society, and both well-respected and well-loved by his colleagues, students, and his patients. If they called, he would answer.
