Michael Steven White
Son of Herman and Harriet White, passed away September 10th, 2020
at home, in his wife's loving arms, to his heavenly home. He was a brave soul, fighting cancer endlessly the last two years without complaining.
Mike was born August 19th 1948, in Flint Michigan. He attended Beecher Schools. He joined the Navy in 1967. He enjoyed traveling all over the world. His favorite country was Norway and his least favorite was Cuba. He was a well read man. He was knowledgeable in history, past presidents and world wars. He always beat Jenifer playing Jeopardy and trivia games. He was a quiet gentle man full of knowledge and integrity.
Mike worked at GM/Delphi for over 32 years. He enjoyed his job and rarely missed work. He attended Baker University and Spring Arbor University. He developed many IT skills and was well written. Jenifer enjoyed reading his university compositions. Mike and Jenifer were married August 21, 1993 in Flint and moved to Swartz Creek in 1995.
Mike was an avid golfer, skier, fisherman, and chef. He cooked dinner every night for the 27 years Jenifer and he were married. Jenifer and Mike bought an RV and traveled throughout the south visiting numerous museums. They loved Wilmington, North Carolina and Wrightsville Beach and stayed there many times. Their favorite trip was to Freeport, Maine. The scenery, the fresh fish, and L.L. Bean was on the top of their list. Mike and Jenny, (as he called her) loved photography. It was a heartfelt hobby they shared.
In 2005-2008, Mike and Jenifer taught in the No Child Left Behind Program in the Beecher School District. It was a great experience for them to work together. Mike also worked with a dear man, Mark, at Sterling Stamps selling very old, and rare stamps. He also helped Jenifer with her rare sheet music collection.
Mike leaves his beloved, devoted wife, Jenifer Corning Thomas. His siblings, Gary (Gayle) White, Jan (Ed) Richards, Gail Bartig, and Carolyn Beech Moseley. His grandson Gavin Halstead, dear old dog, Archie, and his neighborhood helper and sweet friend, Ethan. His leaves many dear friends and neighbors, and Corning cousins, who have helped give him strength through his illness. Thank you to the doctors at McLaren Medical and Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor and McLaren Hospice.
"I met Mike in 1992 and had the honor of being his wife for 27 years. I always put him first. He stole my heart by his love and devotion to me. We were each other's best friend. I never minded caring for him. I had the honor of feeling him take his last breath, holding him in my arms, and giving him into God's love and eternal peace. He is no longer suffering. God bless you, Mike. I will always love you. Jenny"
Mike will be buried at The Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
