Michael Paul Treiger, "Buck", - age 56, passed away, June 19, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, June 24, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, with Fr Georges Bidzogo celebrant. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd. Swartz Creek, MI. The Sons of the American Legion will have a walk through on Sunday night at 6 PM followed by a Firefighter and Public Safety walk through. Family sharing will conclude the evening. Visitation will also be held 10 AM - 11 AM Monday the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Michael was born on September 5, 1967, in Frankfurt, Germany. He most recently resided in Swartz Creek, MI. Michael's favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his beloved family and friends. Professionally, Buck completed his 16th year with Genesee County 911. Prior to that Michael served the community for 15 years as part of the Swartz Creek Fire Department. He garnered recognition for his dedication, receiving the Christopher Hilden Firefighter of the Year Award in 1999. Michael was also actively involved with the Sons of the American Legion and Swartz Creek Hometown Days, contributing to the vibrancy of his community. In 2023 Michael received the Edgar A. Guest Masonic Award for Community Service. On August 24, 1990, Michael married Christine Howell, and they enjoyed 33 years of marriage together. Their love blended a beautiful family, including their children David (Selena) Hudson, Corissa (Lance) Hull, Paul Treiger (Kat Burridge), and Kaylee (Chris) Cannon. Michael is also survived by his parents Judy Porritt, Paul (Tara) Treiger, sister Sherry Weiss, and brothers Jeff (Debbie) Treiger and Matt Treiger. In- laws. Diane (Jim) Harris, Marylou (Ralph) Palka, Bill (Wendy) Howell, Kathy Howell, Jan (Bob) Bartman, Bob (Tanya) Howell, Jim (Erika) Howell, Mike (Linda) Howell, and Jean Jenniches. And his most cherished grandchildren Skyy, Brooke, Travis, Molly, Haylee, Colton and Clayson. His memory will be forever cherished by his loved ones and the countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime. Preceded in death by Father in law, Clair Howell. Mother in law, Margaret Howell, Brother in law Bob Weiss, grandson, Ky Hull. and his loving grandparents. The family extends a special thank you to the medical staff of Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint.
