When Michael E. Sweet was born on July 12, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Clarence and Jimmy Mae (Buckner) Sweet, he was already thinking about fishing.
On January 2, 1982, he married Ann M. Romel in Alpena, Michigan, and we’re pretty sure he was thinking about fishing then. They made their home in Linden and together, they raised a beautiful family - Jaime, his firstborn and of whom he was so very proud, Sabrina, his only daughter and the apple of his eye, and Julian, his youngest and partner in all things with scales and fins. Mike worked for Atlas Technologies in Fenton as a professional welder for 20 years until his diagnosis with a brain tumor in 2003. After major surgery, he and Ann were still able to spend many years vacationing at Long Lake in Alpena. Of course, he fished every day! Mike was loved very much for his kindness and goofy sense of humor. He fished, hunted and camped - loving every minute of precious time he was given.
Those left behind to miss his fish stories are his wife Ann (Romel), son Jaime (Andrea), daughter Sabrina (Ryan) Thompson, son Julian (Ashley) and beloved grandchildren Seth, Erik, Tegen, Angelica and Ava, and his fur-babies Doc and Duke.
A celebration of Mike’s life will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions in Mike’s memory would be appreciated to Adopt-A-Pet, Fenton. adoptapetfenton.com Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diana. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
I’m watching you all as you all cry for me;
Please don’t be sad or feel misery,
It’s a breathtaking sight, this kingdom I’m in,
And we’ll all be rejoicing when I see you again!
Until that time we’ll all be left wishing
That you could out-do me in a good day of fishing!
