Michael Sekulich

March 11, 1964 — April 23, 2021

SEKULICH MIKE His Legacy… Michael Scott Sekulich,  Age 57, of Fenton passed away April 23, 2021. He was born in Pontiac MI on March 11th, 1964 to Steve and Mary Lou (Newton) Sekulich. Mike was an exceptional Hockey player at Hartland High School and after graduation in 1982 took his talents and goals to Ferris State University where he continued to excel in being a teammate and student. His professional career included titles such as Sales Manager for Shakespeare Rods and Reels and charter boat operator. Ultimately Mike discovered his passion for landscape design, management, and sales and eventually became a proud business owner. Mike did not just reshape people’s landscapes; he reshaped their life in some way. His knowledge and humor were infectious and when the project was done, you somehow ended up with a new friend. Mike enjoyed a vast number of hobbies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved playing cards and telling a great story. He had a passion for the maize and blue and sports viewing/listening was a must. He was a gourmet cook who loved to be in the kitchen and grill. Most importantly, he will always be remembered as someone who wanted to give more than he received. His Family… Mike had a passionate love for his family: his fiancée Kathleen Hatcher, her son Jeff (Michelle) Hawkins and daughter Kelly (Adam) Urrutia, and grandchildren Catalina, Michael, Berlyn, and Briar, who knew him as “Papa Mike”; and his father Stephen (Elinore) Sekulich. He is survived by son, Derek (Katy) Summers; his beloved grandson Parker Summers; his beloved granddaughter Emery Summers; his brothers Mark (Natalia) Sekulich, Brad (Rose) Sekulich, and his sister Amy (Kevin) Harrington. Mike embraced and loved his extended family in the Upper Peninsula; Brenda (David) Muhlenbeck, Bonnie Harrison, and Penny (Matt) Waccholz. He was a caring Uncle to two nieces: Anna (Joel) Korth and Abigail Harrington; and two nephews: Brad (Brooke) Sekulich and Bailey Harrington. He is preceded in death by Mary Lou (Newton) Sekulich; Dawn Summers Labutte Sekulich; William Sekulich; Mary Sekulich: Eva Hoy.
