With great sadness we announce the death of Michael David Kerperien on January 25th, 2024. Mike died peacefully at home with family at his side.
Mike was born on December 5th, 1955 to Lila Lee Moyer and Francis William Kerperien. Mike was a graduate of Luke M. Powers, class of 1974 and he proudly served in the Marine Corp from 1976 - 1979. He retired from Bueche’s Food World as a produce manager in 2022 but continued to work on a part-time basis. Prior to this, he worked many years in independent produce sales and was known by many as “Produce Mike.” …yet he refused to eat produce.
Mike loved to sing and would spontaneously break into song at any moment. He did an awesome rendition of Mustang Sally and What a Wonderful World. As an avid golfer, he played on two leagues for many years. Mike was a master of random trivia and loved taking “the long way” when traveling. He took great pride in his outdoor Christmas lights, lawn and flowers and they always looked fantastic. Mike had a very gruff voice and a very tender heart.
Left to cherish his memory are his life partner, Mona Bol. Her children Ian (Kolina) Bol, Bethany (Scott) Purdy, Alexander (Megan) Bol. Grandchildren Faith Bol, Harper and Gavin Purdy, Abigail and Alivia Bol. Sister Theresa (Don) Klein, brother Leonard (Kathy) Kerperien. In-Laws, Mark and Judy Tanner. Nieces and nephews, Krystal (Scott) Snider, Randy (Alyssa) Kerperien, Elizabeth Kerperien, Michael (Penny) Klein, Tracy Klein, Melissa (Steve) Bouvy, Shayna (Eric) Bendle, Daniel Robinson. Mike was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Veronica Robinson, niece Theresa Robinson and nephew Matthew Klein.
A special thank you to Compassus Hospice nurses, Renee, Marge and Kathy.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
