FORD Michael John -- Age 81, of Swartz Creek, MI. passed peacefully at his residence on December 28, 2020; his wife Colleen was at his side. A memorial service will be held 3PM Monday January 4, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Father Anthony Strouse, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children.. Michael was born on April 22, 1939 in Histon, Cambridgeshire England. He served in the British Army before immigrating to the United States in 1967. In 1981, he proudly received his American Citizenship. Michael’s career consisted of working for General Motors (A.C. Spark Plug, Buick, and Oldsmobile), before retiring as a supervisor after nearly 40 years. He and Colleen Grace Kennedy, formerly of Vassar, MI, were united in marriage on August 21, 1971. They spent 49 wonderful years together sharing beautiful memories. Travelling many places, they always made sure they had a beautiful view of the water. On August 5, 1974 Michael and Colleen welcomed their son, Michael Alexander into the world. Father and son would enjoy many years participating in Cub Scouts of America, as cub and scout master. The family loved spending their summers up north on Mullet Lake enjoying camping, swimming, and riding jet skis. Michael was a devoted grandfather to Hudson and Pierce (his two young grandsons), spending time reading and playing together. Michael also loved to spoil their family pet, Lord Hamilton of Cambridge AKC (Hamilton, or as Michael called him, "Hamburger"). In addition, one of his favorite hobbies was visiting casinos. He frequented ones in Michigan, Canada, New York, and even a few out west! Michael was an active member of Morning Star Masonic Lodge No. 556 F.&A.M serving as Worshipful Master in 2012. He also was a Noble in Elf Khurafeh Shrine for 40+ years volunteering in many ways to support the Shriners Hospital for Children. Left to cherish his memory, is: Colleen (wife), Michael and Katie Ford (son and daughter in law), Hudson and Pierce (grandsons), Sally Powell, David Jennings-Powell, Gwynneth Powell, Teresa (Paul) Kelly (siblings), many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred John Ford and Ruby Malines Few and his brother, Alan Ford Powell. A Masonic Memorial will be announced at a later date in the spring.
