Michael "Mike" H. Honold, age 76, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 4pm - 8pm, with a Rosary Vigil Service at 7pm at Sharp Funeral Home - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Visitation will resume the following day at 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11am on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church of Durand, 700 Columbia Drive, Durand, Michigan. Michael was born on July 22, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Erwin & Lorna (Boesenecker) Honold. He grew up in Frankenmuth with two older sisters, Trudy and Mary, his identical twin brother, David and numerous dogs. He attended Frankenmuth High School, class of 1966. Michael furthered his education by earning a bachelor's degree in business at Michigan State University in 1970 where he met his future wife, Susan. Michael and Susan were married on August 9, 1975, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. Michael worked as an insurance underwriter at several insurance companies before joining Rod Sutton Insurance Agency in Flint as office manager/agent and owner.
Michael spent his time coaching T-ball and AYSO soccer. He was a cub master for Tall Pine Council pack 357. He bowled in a league during winter and golfed in a league during summer. He was a reluctant travel companion who always had the best time.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Susan Honold; his children, Nicholas (Sonia) Honold and Amanda Honold; grandchildren, Rohan, Brij, and Shreyus Honold; brother, David (Nancy) Honold and sister, Mary (Armin) Luzi. He is survived by many other dear family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Lorna Honold; parents-in-law, Frank and Morene Horvath; sister and brother-in-law, Trudy and Jerry Nuechterlein; and niece-in-law, Ellen Nuechterlein.
Michael's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Swank Home Assisted Living and Heart to Heart Hospice. Throughout his nine-month stay with Swank Home, Michael and his family were diligently cared for and their kindness never went unnoticed.
