Michael Doherty

DOHERTY, Michael David - age 51, of Fenton, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at McLaren - Flint after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W. Bristol Rd., Flint with Pastor Rob Prince and Pastor Steve Anthony officiating. Visitation will be held 1-3 and 5-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Michael Doherty Memorial Fund. Michael was born April 11, 1963 in Flint, the son of Richard and Rita (Canning) Doherty. He was a 1981 graduate of Powers Catholic High School and married Amelia McCarthy on December 13, 1986. He was a regional manager with Berkshire Hathaway. Mike was best known for his generosity, kindness and humor. His family, friends and his faith were the priorities in his life. Surviving are: wife, Amelia "Amy" Doherty of Fenton; three sons, Michael, Brendan and Matthew Doherty; mother, Rita Doherty; three sisters, Lori, Debbie and Julie (Charles) Parsons. He is also survived by a very large and loving family of extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Doherty.
