CONRAD, Michael John - Age 74, of Byron, died Monday, July 23, 2012. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2012 at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, 38100 5 Mile Rd, Livonia. Fr. James Pazat celebrating. Burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Thursday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made to the Society of St. Pius X. Michael was born March 8, 1938 in Detroit, the son of Mark Leroy and Irene (Beck) Conrad. He owned and operated American Heritage Insurance Agency in Flint since 1982. He previously was an agent for AAA. Michael was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Swartz Creek Council #6694. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are: 4 children, Marianne Della and husband Wil of Westland, Kathleen MacKenzie and husband Scott of Flint, John Conrad of Wyoming and Matthew Conrad of Byron; 2 granddaughters, Nicole Swiger and Madysen Della; stepdaughter, Melanie Quinn of Livonia; 2 brothers, Dr. David Conrad and wife Roberta of Saginaw and James E. Conrad of Northville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gail Conrad and daughter, Cynthia Conrad. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Kathey, Laurie and the rest of the Heartland Hospice staff and Dr. R. Bruce MacIntosh and Dr. Aram Minasian.
