CONATON, Michael, Age 65 of Clio and Punta Gorda, FL, died Friday, February 6, 2015. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Michael was born July 30, 1949 in Rose Township the son of Martin and Bernice (Howerton) Conaton. He married Mary E. Kerr January 25, 1974 in Flint. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam, receiving four purple hearts. Mike was a member of the Marine Corp. League #155 of Flint, Elks, Eagles and Moose. While residing in Florida, he volunteered at the Welcome Center and the Snowbird Baseball Classic. Mike was an avid Michigan fan (Go Blue!) and a diehard Marine (Ooh- Rah!). He loved to cook, play poker and tell stories (real or imagined). Spending time with family, friends and his dog Rylee, is what he lived for. Surviving are: Mary and children, which he lovingly referred to as "those damn kids", Debi (Chris) Love and Kacie of Davison, Mikelle (Tim) Lynch and their children, Baine, Sydney, and Garner of Grand Blanc, and Matt (Autumn) Conaton and Madisyn of Mt. Morris; his sister Colleen Christensen of Suttons Bay, several nieces and nephews and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice Bowles.
