Michael Cartier

CARTIER, Michael Frederick ( Mike) -- Age 69, of Montrose, passed away March 2, 2019. Cremation has taken place per his request. A memorial service will be held 1PM March 8 at New Covenant Church, 13176 N. Linden Rd., Clio. Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating. Visitation will be 12PM until time of service at the church on Friday. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, at a later date. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, our temporary location at Hill Creek Church, 5363 Hill Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions toward an educational fund for his beloved granddaughter, Emma Cartier. Mike was born October 14, 1949 to the late Fred and Barbara (Evans) Cartier. He attended Hill McCoy High School class of 1968. He married Bethany Riddle in December 1971. He served in the armed forces, (Army) stationed in Germany. He was employed at GM Truck and Bus plant in Flint for 22 years before retiring. Mike enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with family/friends, playing cards and helping others when they needed it. Especially loved being a Papa to his beloved granddaughter, Emma Cartier. He is survived by his wife, Bethany Cartier; children, Chadwick Cartier, Tanya Cartier; granddaughter, Emma Cartier, who he loved with all his heart; stepmother, Grace Cartier; brother, James (Dawn) Cartier; sisters, Mary Jo Meir, Peggy (Randy) Huber, Jean (Larry) Murdock, Lisa Cartier; sister in law, Debbie Cartier; step sister, Karen (Tim) Wolter; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Cartier, Bob Cartier, Steve Cartier; sister, Vinnie Powell. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
