AHEARNE, Michael V. - Age 81, passed away January 23, 2024. Services will be held 11AM Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly. Michael was born November 7, 1942 in Flint, the son of Joseph Martin and Mabel Claire (Hinolf) Ahearne. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines. Michael spent his entire career in law enforcement. He retired from the City of Flint, where he was a Homicide Detective. Following his retirement, he went on to start his own Private Investigating business, then started the police department at Bishop Airport, where he served as Chief. He then went to Grand Blanc Township Police Department, where he was a Deputy Chief. Michael was also a graduate of the 119th session of the FBI National Academy. Michael served as a Cub Scout Leader, Basketball Coach and member of the Swartz Creek School Board. He was a member of Swartz Creek Church of the Nazarene, where he had been Sunday School Superintendent. He loved working in his wood shop re-purposing items he found antiquing and he collected vintage lunch boxes with over 300 boxes and thermos. He also enjoyed gardening, canning, camping and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lorraine; sons, Nolan (Tracie Strickland and her daughter, Taylor) and Victor; siblings, Celestine Gambetese, Jim (Diane) Ahearne, Mary Ella Barrons, Tom (Lana) Ahearne, Joel (Barb) Ahearne, Claire Marie (Don) Strzynski, Ruthanne (John) Finn and Margaret (Ted) Wasilewski; sister-in-law, Sharon Ahearne; his southern family, Lucille Lobrano, Sister Lobrano, Wendy Calloway, Elvira Roig, Greg Scott, Joey Lobrano; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; man's best friend, Kelly; grandchildren, Kaylin, Gavin, Victoria, Alexus and Shianne. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher, brother, John and nephew, Eric.
