BUNCH, Merle Leroy - Age 89, of El Paso, Illinois, formerly of Burton, died Friday, October 27, 2006 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp., Pastor Joe Bower will officiate. Burial will take place in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-9PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Bunch was born September 9, 1917 in Flint the son of Marion and Mable (Simmons) Bunch. He married Leona Brookins on August 31, 1940 in Flint and had been a resident of Burton since 1963 moving to El Paso, IL in 2000. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School and General Motors Institute. Merle was employed by A.C. Spark Plug in Flint as a Supervisor for 37 years retiring in 1974. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he was very active in the Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent and as Deacon, and was a member of the Choir for 52 years. Merle was also a member of the Flint Rock and Gem Club, Morning Star Lodge #556 F & AM, A.C. Male Chorus, A.C. Executive Club, IMA Chorus, Pierce Park Senior Citizens Chorus and the Michigan Choral Association. Surviving are his loving wife, Leona of Illinois; daughter, Margaret and husband Earl Dewley of Illinois; 3 grandchildren, Karla and husband Carl Little of Illinois, Kurt Dewley of Flint, Karl and wife Jennifer Dewley of Burton; 6 great-grandchildren; Nathan and Nicole Little, Kendall and Emma Dewley, Lauryn and Brianna Pruett.
